Every year infants are illegally abandoned in the U.S. In 2021, 31 babies were placed in dumpsters, found in backpacks, or discarded in other dangerous locations. 22 of these infants were found deceased. With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, far more women experience unwanted pregnancies, which can result in baby abandonment and death. Due to safe havens, 422 newborns were not abandoned in Florida.
